Is it that I am completely insensitive or are horror films just not scary at all ever?

Thinking back through my life I have watched my fair share of horror. Admittedly the majority was just because my Dad hates horror movies and I watched them to piss him off. The first horror movie I ever remember seeing was "The Brood" starring Oliver Reed and that gave me a particularly bad nightmare but I was six at the time and that can be excused. Since then I haven't ever seen a film that made me have nightmares. I was "troubled" by "The Amityville Horror" but only because it was supposedly true. I revelled in films like "The Exorcist" and "The Omen" stopping only to be slightly perturbed by the man-cut-in-half scene from "Damien: Omen 2" but I was never genuinely frightened. Of all the films I have seen in the horror genre it actually took "The Others", a gentle spook movie rated 12, for me to have the urge to look over my shoulder! Don't even get me started on "The Blair Witch Project" (which doesn't merit a link).

Why the rant about horror films Dibbie? Weeelll... Last night I was watching a documentary which was, quite matter-of-factly, talking about possible hauntings in various places and it suddenly occured to me that I was actually buying into it. I started to imagine the possibility that the house I am in is haunted and that ghosts are a real phenomenon. Is it the case that I don't buy in to movies as much as I thought I did? It's a possibility. By the way, if you have any suggestions for balls-out scared-me-half-to-death movies (or books) mail me and I'll look into them (click on contact on the left there).

Introspection over...

I may have had some good news - it seems that one of the houses I was interested in buying has come back on the market after a deal fell through! I want to know why it fell through first and if it was for purely financial reasons I'll be throwing in an offer. It's not a great time for me to do it with the festival approaching rapidly but I'll just have to bite my tongue and sort it out.
