Oh foul beast of wordsmithery!!

I did a huge update last night and lost it ALL - ALL of it!! I even copied and pasted it just to be safe and then my computer freaked out and I lost the lot!

Right, it's been a long time so I'll recap:

This week I are been mainly moving house, entertaining the colonel and stressing beyond all recognition - Excellent, brilliant and pants respectively. I got the move underway on Tuesday having spent Monday trying my hardest to avoid doing anything at all. I failed to pack anything wortwhile and then went out for the evening when Lee (The Colonel) turned up two hours late. I wasn't bothered because it wasn't his fault. Apparently the weather was too hot for the signals to work properly so most journeys had to be rerouted or abandoned. We made it to the pub just minutes before Ralph arrived. He had managed to skip out of work early and so we could spend more time boozing and getting to know Lee.

I've got to be honest I was worried. I wasn't worried that we wouldn't get on because we have talked a lot recently but Lee is the first person I have ever met in 3d having only e-met before. I was concerned that we got on brilliantly in small doses but that we had the ability to either turn off the computer or put down the phone. This was different though. He'd be staying at my house and we'd be spending all week together so there was nowhere to hide shouild things go pear-shaped. As it turned out there was nothing to worry about and we had a great time just hanging out.

Back to the move. I have moved people from one house to another quite a few times and each time I was surprised by how much stress the people were feeling. I used to wonder why until Tuesday night. I have never felt so under pressure in my entire life. I spent most of Tuesday shopping for household essentials which I think I did really well with. I managed to get a good set of pans, a knife block, glasses, cutlery, crockery, breadbin and sundry other things for about £120. I had to do some shopping around but it was worth it. The move began at just about 9pm when Alex turned up with a borrowed van and it was a beauty. We shot off to my brother's house and picked up a sofa-bed (the most uncomfortable thing to sleep on but nice to sit on), a wash-stand (currently computer desk) and a chair. Having dropped all that off we went back to Alison's for the rest of the big stuff. My idea was to leave the small stuff and move it out bit by bit. Alison has donated some great furniture but the wardrobe just proved too big for 3 of us and we decided to leave it for now (I'll pick it up just as soon as I can).

Just as we finished humping everything into the van Alison turned up with a bottle of Champers which we cracked open in my new abode once evrything was inside. It was great and I can't thank Lee, Alex or Alison enough for their efforts. If it wasn't for them I'd still be there now

Wednesday morning came quickly despite me having a very bad nights sleep. I think I got about 3 hours but it was in short bursts so I was tired for the majority of the day. Unfortunately I don't have a fridge at the minute so there was no food anywhere in the house. This meant that we had to wait for the ntl: engineers to turn up and fit things before we could go into town and grab a sandwich. Just before noon a solitary engineer turned up! Now, don't get me wrong, he did an excellent job and I am very happen but they usually turn up in gangs and whilst one person does one thing another does another - perfect, in and out in 30mins. At 3pm we finally left the house!

Having grabbed a panini (posh sandwich that you wouldn't expect to find in Swansea) we set about getting the essentials we had forgotten yesterday and got back early enough to just chill for a while before the boys started turning up for "The Bonding Session". The what? Well, basically we were playing the Bond Drinking Game, a game which should strike fear into even the most fearless drinker. The rules are simple:

Pour a pint of your chosen tipple
Put on a Bond film - any will do
If anyone says "James", drink two fingers
If anyone says "Bond", drik two fingers
The line "Bond, James Bond" incurs a downing of your drink
If a gadget is used drink two fingers

Now, it may sound ok but you should try it. Let's just say that 40 minutes into the film the majority of us had had enough. Usually it is best to elect a scribe to make a list of all the things that have been missed but I think that would have killed us. Somewhere along the way my brain exploded and I cannot remember a thing but I did something VERY strange. Apparently I walked out of the house and went back to Alison's. This amazes me because:

1) I don't live there anymore
2) Alison is on holiday
3) I'm a lazy git
4) It was 4am and
5) I was only wearing a pair of shorts!

No-one knew I had gone until I was well on my way and when Nicky eventually found me I was knocking on Alison's door and being confused. He persuaded me to come back to my house which I did very readily but I have no memory of anything except Nicky wearing a sheet to keep out the rain (!) and my feet hurting (it's a fair old distance to go both ways in bare feet).

I woke up on Thursday afternoon and I was still drunk, we're now on Friday night and I've only just shook the hangover!! Lee and I spent all of Thursday just chilling and watching DVDs - a fellow DVD gannet what better company could you ask for? And that pretty much brings us up to today.

The Colonel left Swansea on time and arrived safely home a few hours later. Ralph has been round tinkering with my PC and I've been pottering and tidying all day. I bought a toaster and a washing machine today but I still need to get hold of a fridge.

I finally got my phone today so I can now speak to the outside world. I have been online for the last few days but I haven't really had chance to do anything so that's why this blog is so long. I'm a bit concerned about Che, actually, I'm more concerned for her. She seems to be having a bit of a rough time at the moment and, because of the distance, I'm finding it hard to help. I'm not going to go into why she is down at the moment, that's for her to say but I just wish there was something I could do. I just can't wait until she's back so we can have some fun.

Merkin is now in the UK so a meet looks like a distinct possibility in the future!! I got some grape jelly from her in the post so I had my first PROPER Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich this evening and it was beautiful.

Well, these happy ramblings have turned into sleepy ramblings so I'm off.

Today's Word: SOLACE

Today's Mood: Contented concern

Quote of the day: "You're such a nice guy" Foxy (a Canadian friend of mine) to me earlier (a little egotistical sure but it meant a lot )
