This is whole working-whilst-suffering-from-Ebola thing is getting beyond a joke...
Well, it's finally got to me. I have been putting off a cold for a while but it's hit at its hardest and I can't ignore it anymore. I'm not looking for sympathy or anything like that, I just want a bit of time so I can stay in bed, sleep and fight off the infection in case it becomes anything worse. The trouble is that the company has decided that my attendance is not good enough and that if I have any time off between now and April I will land myself with a disciplinary hearing. The upshot of this is that, no matter how bad I feel or how contagious I am, I am forced to work through any illness I may have.
It's my own fault really because I shouldn't have been working in the same place for this long. Three years is more than enough for a call centre, especially when the only thing that has changed in your role is the title. Still, no use whining about it here.
Che is still a galaxy away and even though she has been with her parents for less than a week it feels a hell of a lot longer. We are phoning each other a lot but it's no substitute for actually being together.
I spent Christmas on my own and really enjoyed it. It was the first time in ages that I was just alone without any commitments so I just watched TV and movies - it was just like being back on the night shift. My parents came round at one point to take me to my brother's house but I decided against it.
Probably against all better judgment I am in the process of buying a new camera!! It's expensive but if I am going to be serious about this kind of stuff then I am going to have to spend a little to make a little (or just get some photographs I can really be proud of). The beast in question, for those who are interested is the Minolta DiMage A1 which comes as close to a professional digi-SLR as you can without having to spend over £1000. As soon as I take a couple of pictures I'll post them here and on my gallery
In other news, Bob Monkhouse has died aged 75. I didn't subscribe to his politics and found some of his jokes corny and annoying but he could be brilliant when he set his mind to it. I have quoted him on various occasions and he will be sorely missed.
Ah well. I suppose I should do some work before I get sent home for all the wrong reasons :-P
