It's still sinking in...
Me a home-owner? It sounds strange. I'm officially old! I can't help thinking about things like "the future" and "my place in the world" and I'm not used to it. I wouldn't say that my motto has ever been "Live fast - die young" but I have always thought of myself as a teenager especially throughout my twenties. I have to admit I'm kind of pleased about it because I have reached another goal that I had set for myself. To be absolutely honest I have only just realised that and it's put a smile on my face.
My plan was always something like:
Age Goal
16 - Pass GCSEs with straight A's and go to do my A-Levels
18 - University to do Micro-biology
25(ish) - Good job in Food Technology
30 - Move into first house with wife/long-term partner
33 - I'll probably be dead by then (bloody hell that's old)
Obviously it kept getting revised and became:
Age Goal
16 - Pass GCSEs (Please let me get a couple so I don't look like a complete idiot)
16(b) - Bugger!! GCSE resits (at least I got some Cs)
16(c) - More C's? Bugger!!
17 - Make plans to go outside the walls of the Caravan from time to time
17(b) - Go to college and do a BTECH (That should lead to University - I'll be fine)
17(c) - Science sucks, must find something I have the will-power to stick to without dropping out
19 - A Levels (ok, settle down, work hard I can get straight A's if I apply myself... What do you mean I can't get funding?)
20 - Errrr, languish in the doldrums
22 - University (at last!!!)
26 - Get a good job with my newly aquired degree in Philosophy!! (Got the degree - failed to get a good job)
30 - Move in to first house with wife/long term partner (House bit has happened - thank the lord for small mercies)
33 - I'm still young, 33 isn't old... No, it's not... 33 is barely out of your teens
40 - Start panicing (subject to change with age)
If you get the chance I would go with Plan B - you earn less cash but the benefits are unlimited. The only thing I would change is being single right now but you can't have everything right?
